PURPOSE: Annual award to provide support for an academic year of dissertation research and writing, to be undertaken outside of East Europe.

FIELD OF STUDY: Social sciences and humanities relating to Albania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the successor states of the former Yugoslavia.

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a doctoral candidate who is a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

AWARD: A maximum of $15,000
